A Wedding in The Landmark Hotel from Ronan McGrade Photography

Sheena & Eugene chose the autumn for their wedding celebration, and although umbrellas were needed they did not compromise on style. Sheena and her bridesmaids were a stunning bridal party dressed all in white, with Sheena choosing this Jenny Packham number to walk down the aisle.

From the bride: While we initially thought the wedding would be a quiet affair with close family and friends, the overwhelming support and encouragement we received after our engagement spurred us on to have a larger wedding party which included the bulk of our families and our friends near and far. We wanted everyone to enjoy our day and for the wedding to have a relaxed atmosphere in a stylish, elegant environment that provided excellent catering facilities at a reasonable price. We both wanted our wedding day to be as comfortable and uncomplicated as possible and it was important to us that our wedding day reflected that ethos.

What did you want in your dress?

When I first went looking for wedding dresses, I really had no idea of what particular style would best suit my shape and I tried on a variety of styles from a variety of designers. I had an image in my mind of how I wanted to look on the day and in keeping with the pattern of the day I wanted the dress to be simple yet elegant and definitely not too fussy or have loads of excess material. I was planning on rocking it on the dance floor and wanted a dress that would allow me to dance the night away with my family and friends. When I tried my dress on, I knew instantly that it was the one for me and I was over the moon to be able to tick it off the “to do” list!

What inspired your style?

Quite a few of my friends and family members have got married over the last few years and my fiancé and I had a clear view of what we wanted from our wedding day. We chose a small, quaint, local chapel for our ceremony which was officiated by a family friend who we were both comfortable with and could have a laugh with. We chose local musicians to enhance our ceremony and picked music that was close to both our hearts and reflected the love we have for each other and our families and friends. The ceremony was the most important part of the day for us and we were happy with all our decisions to ensure it all went rather smoothly.

We were so happy with the function room that we chose in our hotel and went for low lighting and lots of candles, soft music in the background and easy access to the champagne and the dance floor. There was lots of space and comfy sofas to mingle and relax in and we chose a charitable donation in lieu of favours at the tables.

Tell us about the favourite part of your day

I would say- my favourite part of the day was my very new husband’s speech which is usually the part that every member of the bridal party dreads- my husband’s spontaneous speech had most of the wedding party crying with laughter and just set us up for an evening of entertainment!

Any advice for our planning brides?

My advice to any planning brides is to have Wedding Insurance. No matter how much planning there are always hurdles we have no control over and planning a wedding is no different. I would advise every bride-to-be to enjoy every part of planning the buildup and of course the big day no matter what hurdles you face as it goes in a flash x
