1. Summer Snacks
If you’re predicting (or just hoping for!) a true summer’s day when you sashay down the aisle, a surprise traditional ice cream van for your guests after the ceremony and before your reception, like this one from Clare & Colin’s wedding, is bound to be well received. If you’re not an ice cream fan, how about a bucket of fresh red apples? Inspired by Elaine & Philip’s castle wedding – so simple, I love it!
2. All White Bridal Party
Although for summer you may be thinking bold bright colours, or maybe pretty pastels, an increasingly popular option is embracing the all white bridal party. Kathleen and her bridesmaids were absolutely stunning in their Hobbs dresses while Jenny & Ted got their flower girl in on the all-white action but added a super special touch with homemade angel wings.
3. Summer Signage & Decoration
When there’s hope that the sun will be shining as your guests arrive for your ceremony and they won’t be scurrying for shelter there are some very simple signage and decoration ideas that can really warm the entrance to your venue. The vintage bike Davinia & Dominic used for their wedding was a welcoming sign (and photo prop after!), and for those of you who will be encouraging your guests to sit on either side of your ceremony venue and embrace the “choose a seat, not a side” saying this wooden sign from Emily & Joe’s wedding was a perfect.
4. Air-Con for Summer Sun
While planning for your summer wedding you will likely have your guests and their comfort in mind. A little “air con for the ladies” can be a welcome touch for guests sitting in warm temperatures and keen to preserve their glossy wedding look for as long as possible! When Sheila & Damien married in Nerja, Italy they added this detail and Sarah & Gareth made their ceremony booklet into a paddle that could double as a fan for guests – fab idea!
5. Summer Photo Props
When all the planning is over and you’re officially Mr & Mrs one of the best ways to get over your wedding withdrawals is a frequent peek at the photos of what was probably your favourite day to date. In summer there is lots of opportunity to have outdoor photos with great light and you can consider adding some fun props – like this simple red balloon in Sarah & Gareth’s barn wedding or a heart parasol a la Clare & Colin.
